ACT Home Tutoring Agency has been serving the Canberra region since 1983.

We pride ourself on providing excellent service and appropriately skilled tutors to our clients.  Our tutors are either graduates or university students, many have teaching degrees.  The Agency has formal policies and procedures in place to ensure that tutors are selected for their ability to support the needs of the student.  We aim to develop ongoing long-term relationships with our clients.

Reasons to engage a tutor

There are many reasons to engage a tutor.  These fit within three general areas

  • development of skills
  • identifying and bridging gaps
  • extension of previous learning

A tutor will implement a program to meet the student’s individual needs.

The tutor brings to the sessions an enthusiasm for the subject matter and a desire to share, coupled with skills including organisation, planning, problem-solving, analysis, structuring of tasks, time-management and study skills.

At a personal level he or she provides encouragement and interest along with immediate and constructive feedback.  This interest and example ensures that the benefit to the student will continue long after tutoring has ceased.

The most vital element is providing the student with the tailored support that allows them to develop confidence in their own ability to meet their goals.
